Merry Minstrels was first established in 1977 by entrepreneur, Sidney Smith, as the first singing telegram company in Tampa, Florida. It was closely followed by a sister franchise in Orlando, Florida. The original Merry Minstrel came dressed in a red tuxedo jacket, white shirt, black bow tie and a mechanical monkey strapped to his/her side. Minstrels would go anywhere-such as bars, restaurants, public restrooms, grave yards, etc and then would sing for any occasion.

Today Merry Minstrel in the Tampa and Orlando areas are owned and operated by Jeff and Michele Peterson of Oviedo, Florida. Michele has been with Merry Minstrel since 1990. First as a singing minstrel and then for the past eight years as president. Merry Minstrel not only provides hilarious minstrels in a variety of crazy costumes for any occasion. We are now a full service party and event planning company which provides entertainment for both adults and children. We also provide an array of interactive inflatables, dj services, celebrity impersonators, Hawaiian Luaus and even a kiddie train.
